Thank you, Lord, for the way Don has carried his cross throughout his life. [Donn, KA0SOH]
I know it has been hard to get together with all of you these days but Don and I always seemed to have a pipeline between us, not only because of some mysterious rf connection between North Carolina (I think that is right) and Erie and even Plymouth New Hampshire, but because of our backgrounds. I always enjoyed his insights, that pause often before he talked as he grabbed coffee, and his interest in what I was up to (two Universities at once now it appears). Like all of you though, it was the fellowship that comes from being one in Christ that was most evident and important; and it impressed me that a man of such scientific ability, intellect, and understanding could also be such a committed Christian (It is hard for those of us brought up in the sciences). I will miss you a great deal Don and look forward very much to meeting you again and having much more time to talk. [Don, WA3CMT]
As a relative newcomer I feel inadequate. I wish that I had emerged with the Sonrise Bible Study Group, and Don, sooner. As I monitored before mustering up the courage to step forward to participate, it became apparent to me that I was witnessing a great man in Don Cronemeyer. A man of many accomplishments, greatest of which was, and still is his testimony for Jesus Christ. I cherish his wisdom that he conveyed to the Net, and sometimes that was directed to me personally. I’m truly honored to have “rubbed shoulders” , even in the slightest sense with Don. May God give him and his family, and circle of friends peace in knowing that Don had a positive impact on others on behalf of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Job well done by a faithful servant. [Terry, W4TLM]
I was and still blessed by the detail Don explained things and his understanding he had of God’s word. Although I’m not part of the net anymore for reasons beyond my control. I will always remember him for for the details and understanding he has of the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ. [Roy, KC4YGB]
[Excerpted from Bruce’s note]
I first encountered Don, AD4NT, and the Sunrise Bible Study Net back in late 2007 or so. It was easy for me to remember the founding of the group; it happened in the year I was born, 1964. I was the same age as the net… I heard this strong voice as I listened in, before I got up the courage to share, boldly proclaiming the Word of God, which was Don’s. Then, when I dared to check in, and hesitantly read the Word of God on the air, a novel experience, I was welcomed by Don’s resolute voice every time, welcoming me to the net, sharing that it was good to hear from me way up in Maine, sincerely grateful for my presence there, as I learned more and more about our Lord, and his Word, from men of great faith, Arnold, Dell, Dave, Jim, and of course Don. Don was always so respectful, encouraging, friendly, and welcoming to me; it encouraged me to be the net control station for a period of time… Over the years, I was privileged to learn from Don, who shared his boldness in proclaiming the Gospel, his courage in calling out evil and darkness that had fallen upon our land, often with a certainty and memorable turn of phrase. Don had a gift, with his technical and scientific background, to convey even the most complex and challenging aspects of our faith in a way that made sense… The Sunrise Bible Study Net and Don’s welcoming voice have carried me through rough patches in life. Business, the loss of my father, the loss of my marriage, the death of a patient, it’s both a ministry and a fellowship, and I suspect the closest we’ll get to Christian motherhood this side of heaven. I am immensely grateful for that time, some 60 years ago, when Don and others of great faith stood up the Sunrise Bible Study Group… Some folks live their entire lives wondering if they made a difference. I don’t think that Don ever had that concern; it was manifested daily, on 3.912 MHz. [Bruce, W1UJR]
To my dear brother in the Lord Don: Greetings to you and your soul mate Anita. I am blown away when I think about how many men, women, and families have been deeply touched because the Lord led you to found the Sunrise Bible Study Net so many years ago. I personally have been deeply touched in my life. This network is more than a network, it is a family. Thanks for your wisdom in launching it. [Dave, W1DV]
Dear Don; I never met you face to face only by Ham Radio, But I want to thank you for always being and sharing encouraging words to me for me being involved as a Gideon on handing out scriptures and sharing Jesus and witnessing with others. You always helped me by openly sharing with me in this Ministry. In Jesus Name. [Terry, W2MNS]
I can’t put into words the love, admiration, and respect that I have for Don. So much could be said, but he will have heaven’s rewards! [Mark, AF4LV]
Don has been a blessing to me and our homeschooling family, since 2007, when I first heard about the net from Brother Bruce, W1UJR. Although I haven’t been actively checking in to the net recently, Don has always been a wise elder living a honorable God- led life, giving us young men an excellent testimony to assist in our Christian growth.
Thank you Don ! [Rex, K1PN]
Brother Don – You have been a blessing for Pat and myself since 2011. While scanning the 75 meter band I heard the SRBSN. What drew me was your constant reminders for all to cleave to the fundamentals as taught so clearly in the Word of Truth, “Rightly Divided”. That had been the foundation of our ministry for 40 years at that point and hearing those words on a radio net was so amazing that we made 3912 our starting place from then on. Redeeming the time in this way has changed so much in our lives. And, I must add, lunch fellowships with you and your dear wife Anita several times are very special and cherished memories. May the gracious presence of our savior sustain you, dear brother. [Jim, NG1Y]
After a 30 year lapse of ham radio I was gifted a HF rig in 2014. I decided that before getting back on the air I would upgrade from General to Extra class license. Once completed I turned on the rig early one morning and tuned up the 80 meter band. I heard a Bible passage being read. Stations from all over were reading verses and commenting. For a week I tuned in and it sounded like a group I would be comfortable with. It was a Tuesday morning and I checked in with Del who was Net Control. Listening only. My plan was to listen for a few more weeks before reading. Don had a different plan. The next morning I checked in with AD4NT and asked to be put in listening log. The best laid plans eh. In true Don form he simply assigned me a verse. I don’t remember the particular verse or book but I can say with all confidence that Don changed my life. Thanks AD4NT. I’ll see you soon. [Eric, KB4MTS]
For Don: Back in 1980 when I got my general license I was tuning across the 75 meter band and heard a group of men reading and studying the Bible. After listening a few times finally got the nerve to push the mic button and join in, was welcomed warmly and encouraged to continue. Don has been a great servant of our Lord in keeping the net going for so many years, no matter who tried to shut it down. Thank you Don for your persistence and service to the net. Lords blessings. [Steve, N2COJ]
Don, I thank our Lord for your friendship in the faith on this side of Heaven. And I appreciate your ministry with the Sunrise Bible Study Group, where we meet each morning around the Word to share the gospel with ourselves and many who hear. I know that God comforts you in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection..I offer continued prayers for you and your family. [Bill, W2BWL]
